Solar Flares

Solar Flares

The dynamics of solar corona is still not understood and new phenomena are unveiled every year. The plasma emitting radio waves are little or not at all known.
Radio waves at meter and decimeter length, can be used as a diagnostic of the solar processes. They provide a first signature of five important events:
  • Type I noise storms

Radio waves record unexplained emissions of solar active regions.

  • Type II flare shocks

Energetic phenomen indicative of magnetohydrodynamic shocks in the low corona.

  • Type III burst

Electron beams escaping as open magnetic lines field.

  • Type IV events

Long lasting emission after large flares

  • CMEs

Predictive potential of radio emission regarding CMEs heading towards Earth.
